Quadratic Function

A Quadratic Function is a type of nonlinear function.

Above are two examples of graphs of quadratic functions. These are called Parabolas.

Minimum

The lowest point on the parabola is called the minimum.

Maximum

The highest point on the parabola is called the maximum.

Because of its direction, this parabola doesn't have a maximum.

Vertex

The highest or lowest point on any parabola is also referred to as the vertex.
